The Green Death

I have to make an emergency wool run at lunch time today as I am now ready for Green. Hopefully Shaws will have the shade I want. I'd hate to have to down needles until I can order some off Ebay. Progress is slow enough as it is.

Here is the progress so far

Red Red Wool

Motoring along now - first mustard strip done and 4 rows into the red

Big round of applause to Doctor ten for helping us show off the progress!

In other news someone recognised the scarf last night on the train. The guy sat next to me said "Excuse me. Can i ask if that is a doctor who scarf you are knitting". I said "DAMN STRAIGHT" :)

The look of pure jealousy on his face was priceless hehehe

But i couldn't help but Squee!!

Breaking the Mustard Barrier

Ta-dah!!!!!!! Time for the red now

*happy dance*

Thank You Hammy!

The mustard wool has arrived!

Full steam ahead at lunchtime today

Also i have been uber sad and downloaded a click counter app for my phone to keep track of number of rows *blushes*

The Mustard Wall

I have hit it full force

I was going to add another colour to keep the momentum going but my inner geek is screaming "keep it real"

Good news is i am only a day behind where i was before I killed MkII. The 30 stitches less per row are making hell of a difference

Here it is halfway through brown. If it looks half as good as Hammys version but the time i am 8 rows in i will be extatic

Goodbye Scarf MkII

And Hello to Scarf MkIII.

A much more managable width and now with the proper colour scheme. Still havent decided whether to go with a bit of the "Shada" design or just stick to the "normal" season 16-17 version.

In other news Hammy has the infamous mustard wool!!! She has kindly agreed to send me some so by the time i finish the beige and brown i will be all ready to go :)

Only job left is to pick up slate grey and decide which shade of green

Marvellous

An Almighty Embuggerance

I found another dropped stitch about 10 rows into the beige. Dont know how i missed it before

The thought of unravelling back to row 18 was disheartening to the point that i felt like jacking it in. So i made a big decision

RIP Scarf MkII....

Bye Bye Beige....Bonjour Brown

Second colour change has gone smoothly. Although the "march to mustard" is creeping up on me.

Hammy has kindly offered to send down some of hers once she receives it so I shall be adding a row of purple beforehand to buy me some time :)

Un-knitting

Oops i found a mistake

Looks like i slipped a stitch :(

So i am now "unknitting" a row and a half to try and correct it.

I suck

More colours

Here are the two "balls" (dont know what else to call them...cones?) that my wonderful Nan gave to me

I have a few colour changes to go until i need them but they will come in handy.

She also gave me some bright blue so my next project will be a TARDIS!!! woot woot. but thats a long way off yet. about 30 more rows of beige to finish til the next change. Better get going :)

Current Progress

OK if i carry on at the current pace. I will finish this 15ft scarf .....in June!!

I think i need to speed up...or alternatively i could slow down and have it in time for next winter ;)

Fail to Plan = Plan to Fail

Officially an IDIOT!

After a day off yesterday i picked up the scarf tonight and was immediately hit by a dilemma. I had knitted about 4 rows (yep thats all) and suddenly realised why my progress was so slow.

I started to stretch it out a bit to check for dropped stiches etc and saw that it was was too wide. I'm talking about 28 inches..yep 28 inches wide. Luckily i noticed now .

So i have started again :(

Good news is though progress is much quicker this time around and i have almost caught up on where i was this morning.

Coming soon...Dgem changes colour. Dont miss it :)

The First Row

Woot Woot!!!

The first row of Red is on the needle. Its already looking a little messy but i dont care I'm KNITTING!!

The First Stitch

Um....OK....Technically not a stitch....its a knot.

But it means i have started :)

No Going Back

OK I have jumped right into the deep end here. Stood in the wool section of "Shaws" and just looked bewildered. Finally decided on 150gram double knit wool....it may make more sense to you than it does to me. Only got two balls (teehee) so far as i am not sure how this is going to work out :)

Deep red and Beige are my first two colours. Will get the rest off ebay. I need Purple, Teal, Mustard, Brown, and a bluish Grey

Sat here holding the bloody needles thinking "NOW WHAT"

It Begins Dun Dun DAHHHHHHHHH

Knitting

What the hell am i doing knitting

I am far too cool for that.

Wait.....no i'm not

Aaaaanyway. I have not held a knitting needle in almost 20 years. My last attempt was a skirt for a hand-me-down Barbie. By the time i finished there were so many holes and dropped stitches, it looked more like a tramps vest. My knitting career was over.

Since then I hadnt even considered picking up another knitting needle (apart from wanting to stab myself in the eye every time a Ray Mears documentary cames on), and yet here i am, contemplating a trip to Shaws the drapers to buy a set of knitting needles and wool.

To really understand why we need to travel back a few weeks to a post that was made by weedledeedle on Digital Spy. She posted a pic of a little knitted Ood...

How cute is that!! So basically I commented on how i'd love to be able to knit. So when a few weeks later Hammy decided to make a scarf.....a FOUR scarf, i was overcome with jealousy. So i toddled off to ebay to buy one. £35!!!! you are having a laugh. The entire outfit i have on doesnt total £35 quid (there are somethings money can't buy...for everything else theres Primark). So i thought i'd give it a go before shamelessly going to Hammy to beg her to make one for me when it all goes horribly wrong.

BUT....I now realise i have to learn to knit. Hooray for Videojug!! A few minutes worth of "how to" videos and i think i am ready *gulp*

Onward and upward
